Tax and Budget Policy

Quality public services rely on an adequate and well-managed tax and fee base. ECONorthwest's staff, including former researchers for the U.S. Congressional Budget Office and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, is well-versed in the tradeoffs of competing tax and fee systems. ECONorthwest helps policymakers weigh the effects of proposed reforms on economic efficiency, equity, and stability, and evaluate administrative feasibility. Past studies have predicted the independent effect of a change in tax or fee policy on business location and expansion decisions, and ultimately, on job levels. Finally, ECONorthwest has worked with numerous clients to clarify state and local budgets with the goal of providing policymakers a stronger budgetary foundation upon which to make decisions.
