Transportation / Land Use Connection

Terry Moore, a vice president of ECONorthwest, and Paul Thorsnes, formerly of ECONorthwest, summarized this developing area of practice in their 1994 book for the American Planning Association (APA), The Transportation/Land Use Connection. The literature in this field has grown substantially since its publication. Moore and Thorsnes recently published a greatly expanded, second edition, which is available now from the American Planning Association.

Terry Moore has received national recognition for his achievements in combining transportation and land use planning in the Northwest. His work on the Making the Land Use, Transportation and Air Quality Connection (LUTRAQ) project in Portland, Oregon earned him a share of a national award in transportation planning from the APA in 1996.

ECONorthwest's recent contributions to this field have focused on corridor planning and on the reciprocal impacts of land-use and transportation policy and investment.
