Energy Economics

ECONorthwest conducts detailed evaluation, monitoring, and verification (EM&V) studies of energy conservation programs. These programs have covered all major end uses in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors and include both electric and gas conservation measures. Many of these studies have used sophisticated statistical models to provide precise estimates of realized energy savings. For many clients, we also conduct detailed market-potential and economic-impact analyses of proposed energy generation facilities, including employment and tax effects. We provide complete financial feasibility studies for potential energy supply plants.

ECONorthwest also evaluates alternative energy generation resources and has been a leader in the development of new tools and analysis methods in this area. For these projects, we model local and regional energy markets, forecast effects on demand from rate structure changes, and analyze substitution effects from the changing supply of and demand for alternative sources of energy.
