Melissa joined ECONorthwest in 2010, specializing in education and social policy. Her areas of expertise include performance evaluation, policy research, technical writing, and editing. Melissa's project work focuses on outcomes in education, workforce development, child support, and other human service programs. Prior to joining ECONorthwest, Melissa was the managing editor of Economic Development Quarterly, a peer-reviewed journal focused on the intersection of theory and practice in U.S. economic revitalization. She also coauthored a demographic analysis of poverty and self-sufficiency in Oregon that illustrates the use of an alternative measure of income adequacy. Melissa was awarded the Howard I. Bruce Award for Excellence from the Levin College of Urban Affairs.
